DVAA has won funding to deliver a workshop series contributing to LIVE-Darwin. We seek an artist to work ‘live’ in the LIVE-Darwin Hub and artists to deliver two workshops.

LIVE-Darwin is funded with the Northern Territory’s central city revitalisation, and consists of one-off projects or regular programming that:

  • raise the profile of Darwin’s CBD through arts and creative activities;
  • enhance the Darwin CBD for visitors and locals;
  • showcase and celebrate Darwin’s CBD, the diversity of our community and our artistic talent;
  • build partnerships between retailers, community groups, the arts and cultural sector, events and festivals and the community to enliven the CBD: and
  • focus on the Mall and surrounding areas in the CBD

Artist in the Hub

An opportunity for an artist to work on a piece or pieces of work over six weeks. Located at the live-Darwin Hub, Smith Street Mall. The role is to engage with the public visiting Smith St Mall and the Hub to promote the live-Darwin workshop series run by DVAA.

  • Must be located in the Hub from 12 -2 during weekdays, 2 days a week; the same two days through six consecutive weeks
  • The artist must create work or works in the public space.
  • The artist owns created work
  • Public participation and engagement essential
  • Funded to $2000
  • Must be a paid-up DVAA member

Two workshop opportunities

Response due before 5 pm Monday 11th Sept

Artists are invited to propose one or two workshops to complete the DVAA workshop program. The planned DVAA workshop programme includes live drawing and sketching in Smith St Mall, life drawing, a kid’s paper world, and urban sketching on location. The proposed workshops must add variety to this programme.

  • Artists may propose one or both workshops
  • Planning for public participation is critical
  • The workshop/s musts be interactive and engaging
  • Workshop must be designed for all levels of ability, participants do not need existing art skills
  • Expected length is 3 hours
  • Location must be in central city Darwin, for example Smith St Mall, the live-Darwin hub in Smith St Mall. Alternative central city locations will be considered.
  • Up to $1000 per workshop
  • Workshops must be delivered by paid-up DVAA members
